So, now that you’re engaged, you’re discovering a million-and-one tasks appearing on your horizon. How do you prioritize it all? How do you figure out what is most important? Remember, first thing’s first–take care of YOU. As you’re refining and re-defining your new life as a bride-to-be, you may have discovered a new willingness to take better care of yourself. Perhaps you have developed (rekindled) an interest in fitness. Great! Along with the exercise, and improved eating habits, you’re sure to loose 10 pounds or more and see the immediate results–so keep it up. Yes it’s hard work indeed, but  your rewards will be feeling great, sleeping better, loosing weight, and having an overall sense of accomplishment. And, a  new found confidence (and your body will thank you too).  You’ll begin to notice your body begins to crave for exercise–for movement of any kind. So, revel in an unexpected outcome of renewed energy and enthusiasm! As you begin moving and defining your own notions of who you are, keep your senses focused on overcoming the inevitable barriers that may come your way. Don’t let a “cloudy day” or an easy excuse such as, “I’m just too tired.” to rob you of your daily goals and long-term objectives.

What Limitations Are You Running Into?
As you start persuing your new path, you’re likely to discover new barriers–fear of the future, doubts about your “style”, or your looks, or your abilities, knowledge and talents–even insecurity can begin to creep into your unconscious self. How many limitations have you already discovered?  Well, don’t throw your hands up and give into the thinking that, “That’s just the way things are.” Rather, look at these challenges as a way to grow stronger. Look at challenges in “realtime”, as a  learning opportunity. And certainly don’t make more out of them than they really are.   Likewise, don’t talk yourself out of going to that spin-cycle, or yoga class, or gym. Instead, face your fears and the negative  self-talk and you’ll discover something exhilarating–a new resolve will begin to emerge and take control. And, a new found freedom and courage to face new challenges–and a confidence knowing that you can indeed succeed in doing what you set out to do. Here’s an easy tip. Keep a log and write your down workouts each week. This will not only help you chart your progress over time, but may help pinpoint weak spots in your routine, or show you where you need to “change it up” a little, or perhaps add more weight, or reps.  Keep things in motion and continue to build upon these small successes. Soon you’ll discover new possibilities in the face of bigger challenges, inspite of the all obstacles that may seem to stand in your way.

Knowing that you can succeed in doing what you set out to do is powerful stuff!  Now get going!

Planning A Wedding Reception?
Wedding Receptions just don’t happen, they take planning, hard work, and a flair for creativity.

What about the entertainment?
Now that you have the vendors selected, and the photographer to capture the moment by moment details, you’re ready to start thinking about how to make your wedding day truly unique.

You already know the “style” and direction you want your reception to take on your big day, but what about the one element that will make your special event standout in everyone’s mind. What about the entertainment? Why is entertainment such an important part of your reception? For one thing, it has the potential to keep your family and friends talking about your wedding long after the nuptials are over.

After the engagement, you and your groom will begin planning your reception and you will want to get the most out of your entertainment budget. You will want your entertainment dollars to provide the most positive, and memorable part of the entire day.

When you have a budget, it is essential to focus on a few excellent ideas you can execute well such as entertainment for your wedding reception.

Here are a few entertainment pointers to consider.
• Your entertainment sets the mood for the entire party. If your guests are entertained, they’ll likely immerse themselves in the wedding festivities, and stay involved in the celebration. And once they become involved, the laughter and adulations will spill over long after the cake cutting and garter toss. And entertainment helps bring this about for everyone.
• Try not to push your personal preferences aside, this is your event of a lifetime, and the entertainment should be a blend of music and style that reflects both your personality. Put some thought into how creative you can be keeping your budget in mind.
• Ask the right questions. What does your entertainer offer? Are they creative enough to offer new, fresh ideas about how to develop what you envision? How will he or she communicate to your audience?
• Your entertainer should be savvy enough to add the right mixture of musical rhythms, that delivers energy, but not be so loud that your guests are driven away from the dance floor. Have you been to a venue where the announcer’s voice sounded garbled against the volume of the music? It can be distracting, and keep your guests wondering while straining to hear what’s being said.
• It’s all about creating the right atmosphere, and your entertainer’s performance is what you’re spending your dollars for. So, before making your final decision, try making a personal visit and watch them perform. By seeing their style and what they do you’ll be better able to decide if they’re the fit you’re looking for and right for you.

When it comes to receptions, and especially entertainment, give yourself plenty of lead time and slow the process down. Make a list of the ten things that are most important to each of your and number them in order of priority.

Finally, Take a deep breath and just take it all in, your groom, your wedding day, your friends, your family. It’s a moment you’ll defintely want to remember. Enjoy the planning process, and stay engaged with every facet of it because it really does fly by.

Checklist for Entertainment

You want the wedding party to flow and keep interruptions to a minimum. Avoid chopping up the flow and the vibe by grouping together the special announcements, the toasts and Daddy Daughter dance.

Outdoor weddings can be spectacular and lends an appeal and charm to any reception. But beware of even the slightest hint of inclement weather. This is another reason you should have a backup plan.

Keep safety always first. You want to keep a keen eye out for even the smallest “spill”, or even potential trips or falls. Another reason to keep pedestals and floral arrangements off the stage and away from the dance floor, and be careful to watch for running tape across the floor. It’s hard to anticipate every eventuality, but look for anything that may trigger a hazard–wet floors and steps especially.

Pre determine with your wedding planner and the reception venue host where and how the stage will be placed. Ask your entertainer to widen the distance of the speakers to keep the volume level comfortable for your guests.

Hire an entertainer that you bond with and trust them to make your vision come into reality. Then relax and trust him. You’ve hired professionals for a reason, so trust their expertise.

Finally, carefully read and follow any requirements that accompany your entertainer’s contract. Make sure everyone is reading from the same “sheet music” to avoid an embarrassing moment, or missed communication. Don’t settle for anything less than the best. This is your day, and it can be both fun, memorable, and stress free when you secure the important details ahead of time, and communicate those details to everyone.
